What
are polarized Safety Glasses and why do you need them?
The light
from the sun is not polarized, though it can be
separated into two polarized components that are
reflected and transmitted in different amounts by the
surface of anything reflective such as chrome on a car a
car windshield a window on a building or as we fishermen
know, the surface of the water. Skiers will remind us
the snow can be very reflective also.
The
characteristics of light dictate that more horizontal
rays are reflected then vertical rays. This presents a
partially polarized reflected light to your eyes.
If we use
a lens that is vertically polarized we can eliminate
some of the reflected glare that would normally cause
squinting and eye strain.
Polarized Safety Glasses decrease the light
selectively helping to eliminate reflected light as well
as decreasing over all light due to the darkness or
shading of the lens.
- Less glair from reflected
light equals better vision in most all situations
- Better eye protection then
regular sun glasses
- Equal or better styles
available compared to regular sunglasses
- Low cost compared to just
a few years ago - no reason not to have the
protection now
When you
engage in any activity that involves being in bright
light you can benefit from Polarized Safety Glasses.
There are no longer any penalty for wearing
Polarized Safety Glasses verses regular sun glasses as
the styles available no are the equal of regular sun
glasses so why not gain the extra protection when riding
a bike or motorcycle or doing anything else that even
remotely could result in danger to your eyes. |
